Numerous responsibilities including developing and maintaining tools for use by Duke staff and by external users (alumni & donors) using Coldfusion and Flex. Most applications are
backed by Coldfusion CFCs which access data in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and IBM DB2 on OS/390.
The front-ends of these tools are built with either plain HTML, AJAX, Flash, and Flex. Additional responsibilities include setup and maintenance of a linux-based server
for bulk mailing (using Qmail) and Secure FTP. Migrated from Oracle 9i to SQL Server 2000 in 2004. Also
responsible for automating processes to integrate our data with third party applications using Perl. Currently, I have
deployed 5 applications written in Flex, including a large reporting application that was ported from VB.NET. Most
applications are internal, but can be demonstrated in person.

Intranet Developer
Duties: Developing and maintaining an intranet site for the IT Operations group using
Coldfusion, Perl, and HTML. The primary database for this project is SQL Server 7, but several Oracle databases are used as well for personnel information and for Remedy information (assets, changes, problems, outages, and batch abends). Much data is also being harvested automatically using a combination of perl scripts, including information about backups (Tivoli/ADSM and Veritas Netbackup), information about servers (software and service information), and other relevant data. The site is heavily relied on by most of the I/T Operations group (about 50 users) and people in many other areas of the company. Progress Energy is a Fortune 250 company.

Duties: Building a variety of applications to help solve internal and external customers problems, using Cold Fusion and Perl languages accessing MySQL and Informix 9 databases. Also involved with web site layout, graphic design, working with customers on support issues, and helping them to use the KOZ community publishing technology. This job included some sales support as well, being involved on sales calls and even some travelling. KOZ went bankrupt in April, 2001.

Duties involved creating test document types, test documents and formatting instances (FOSI's) in order to test the 8.0 Release of ArborText's "ADEPT Publisher" software, which is used for SGML document editing and publishing. This testing took place on multiple UNIX platforms and Windows NT. Also involved in other patch-release bug-fix verification.

Cost Estimator / Application Developer
Responsible for creating a database driven estimating system using various available
tools. This included Visual Basic 4.0, SQL, ODBC, Microsoft Access, and Oracle.
Worked with sales personnel to develop requirements and specifications. Internally
trained in relational database development.
Initially hired as a cost estimator, responsible for taking book specifications from sales personnel and determine production costs and selling price.
- Miscellaneous Freelance Work

Over the course of the last 10 years, I've done numerous freelance projects, and worked heavily in both Coldfusion and PHP.
Developed and deployed a site management tool in CFML, and converted it to PHP for several clients as well. Built an ecommerce
site for a small record label in Chicago in 1997 which sold over a thousand products and grossed $40,000 a month in
sales by 2001 (when I stopped maintaining it for them). Recently used Coldfusion to product sales reports in Excel format
from XML log files for a major pharmaceutical company located in the Triangle. I also maintain a
dedicated Linux server for hosting, and maintain another Linux mail server for one client.
In addition to paying freelance work, I also an a habitual open source developer, building numerous popular Open Source projects
in Coldfusion including a powerful file manager, an image manipulation component (which integrates java image classes), a blog application,
a message board application, and an AJAX-powered chat application.
